Starting Strong: Inside Our Website Creation Workshop

There’s something both exciting and intimidating about bringing an idea to life. Giving it an online presence means putting yourself—or your vision—out into the world. That’s why starting strong matters, especially when building your homepage. For many, their first page is the hardest one.

During our recent Website Creation Workshop, we laid a solid foundation for building digital homes for ideas and business plans. Eight participants arrived with eight different visions and empty homepages, ready to begin. Over the course of one empowering morning, those visions turned into the first drafts of eight websites. We began not with technology, but with intention.

Around the table were diverse projects: a startup yoga studio in Ispra, a rental initiative, a science project, a site for mom’s writing business, a small non-profit, and more. Guided by workshop facilitator Ludivine, participants learned the fundamentals of effective web creation—from clear site structure and simple navigation to SEO basics, heading hierarchy, keywords, and calls to action. Key principles were emphasized: visitors should understand who you are within the first three seconds, find information within three clicks, and enjoy a fast, intuitive browsing experience.

The session then shifted into hands-on creation. WordPress themes and Wix templates were explored, blocks added, plugins installed, images uploaded, and words carefully shaped into meaningful titles. There were questions, moments of frustration, and learning curves—but steady guidance ensured everyone kept moving forward.

By midday, no website was finished—and that was okay. Website creation is a craft that blends design, content, creativity, technical skills, and clarity of purpose. What participants gained was momentum: first pages taking shape, confidence growing, and a shared sense of purpose in the room.

As the workshop drew to a close, we agreed to reconvene in one month to present progress, share challenges, and help each other level up. Some will refine structure and messaging, others will enhance visuals or tackle technical details. Some may even start over with a new design. But all will return with progress—and more confidence.

This is how projects come to life: when “someday” turns into “today.”
