Objectives of the workshop
This one-and-a-half hour workshop will discuss how to create and deliver a pitch in order to promote a project, sell an idea, or raise funds. Pitching is an essential part of business communication, especially in working with innovation, entrepreneurship, and startups.
The workshop will include a review of the 10 essential slides in a startup pitch, alongside key principles for giving a compelling presentation, and a discussion on how to modify the content for a range of other contexts.
The primary content of the workshop will focus on:
- Key information to include in a pitch deck
- Purpose and mindset behind giving an impactful pitch
- Variations on pitching structure and format depending on length, objectives, and setting
- Overall notes on public speaking and preparing presentations
About the trainer:
Joseph Gaylord has a Masters in International Affairs and an MBA in Green Energy and Sustainable Business. He has worked on social innovation and entrepreneurship since 2013, initially with the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva, then as a founding team member of Social Digital Innovation, and as an analyst and coworking space manager with dpixel Srl. He has worked on projects in collaboration with Ars Electronica, THE Port at CERN, Impact Hub, Art-ER, Fuckup Nights, and the Bologna Startup Community.
